Bounce-backability.
So after last Saturday's mini-meltdown, I'm back! A full week of training under my belt, and I'm feeling so much better for it! After a very indulgent Saturday last week (involving a great deal of channel-surfing, ice-cream consumption and alcoholic pickling of my liver), I decided to give myself a kick up the arse and a right ticking off for being such a mardy cow, and this resulted in a timid 4 mile run on the Sunday. It was enough to get me back into the regime though and by the end of Wednesday's fartlek run I was raring to go. Two 5am starts - Friday and Saturday - weren't nearly as tough as they sometimes can be, and Saturday morning's sunrise over Lintrathen Loch was spectacular and well worth lacing up for.
But, in order to stave the motivation slumps, I'm going to try a few new things:
1. New playlist! Having the same songs going round and round every run (and I need them to curb the boredom when I'm on my own) can be a bit tedious, so I've downloaded a new playlist and am going to try it out today - I'll pop another blog post up soon with all my run songs on it.
2. New routes - what with travelling a lot for work, I've decided to pack my run stuff in the car each morning and see where the road takes me. I tend to stick with the same handful of routes at home which are great and some of them quite challenging but, again, tedious when you have four to do every week.
3. Minutes not miles - rather than planning routes at home I'm going to do a session each week where I take note of what time I leave and just run wherever takes my liking for x amount of time before turning back. And it's supposedly a better way to train anyway:

All the training is, of course, in aid of Combat Stress and I'm still looking for donations!! You can donate on my Virgin Money Giving page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ShauneyWatson
