Bags packed.

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.... breathe!! 1 day!! 1 freakin' day!!

And everything's done.... I think. As long as I don't forget my trainers (you really don't realise how likely this is to happen), or my water bottles, I'll be fine! It's kind of strange being on this side of training - no more miles of country road or hours in the gym left - just one race. I did my last run on Wednesday, a short 4 miles, and it was strangely emotional (Christ knows why, it's not like I'm giving up running after this; was obviously just being a sap). I would have posted up my training log which has all my miles and hours in the gym tallied up on it but, me being typical me, I've misplaced it. Of course I have. Anyway, after Wednesday I just did a little in the gym on Thursday and that's been it. The lack of adrenalin from not doing the same volume of exercise during the week has meant I've been noticeably less smiley and energetic (as I keep getting told!) and I have felt a little down - just goes to show what exercise does for you!

However, packing my bags this morning has left me buzzed.... but also slightly apprehensive as remembering things (as you've already guessed from previous blog posts) isn't exactly my strong suit. What was even more exciting though, was finally getting my playlist together. It might be bordering on obsessive but, with the help of the Loch Ness' guide to the marathon route (where the uphills/flats/downhills are placed) I've made a rough guess at what sort of time I should be sitting at during each phase and picked out songs to suit so they come on at just the right time. Yes, even as I type this I'm raising an eyebrow at myself and shaking my head.
It's really strange though, what just one song can do and there are certain ones that have been on my running playlists since I started running. These are the ones that should keep me comfortable, like a familiar blanket. And there are certain songs that I associate with other times and places. These should keep me occupied or amused at least for a large part of the race. And, of course, there are the really good songs - the ones that get you up the toughest of hills or through that very last mile. You can't explain why....they just do.

So that's it. All organised.......let's just hope my legs haven't forgotten how to run the distance!

If I can get wifi at the guesthouse I'm staying at tonight, I'll post a quick update. But if I don't, I really do want to thank every single one you who have donated to Combat Stress - who, of course, I'm running for. So far, £625 has been raised - so whether you donated online, offline, or with cakes(!!) you're all awesome!

From the over-excited, definitely-forgotten-something runner..... here we go!!!

yep, looking like a twat.
